COUNTY EMPLOYEES, EMS & POLICE RAISES
County hourly employees have not had more than minor cost of living pay raises in many years. And our EMS is very underpaid, as is our sheriff’s deputies. Wes proposes all county elected commissioners and appointed salaried and staff, to include the Sheriff, the TDC director, the county clerk, the tax collector, county attorneys, the convention center manager and others should accept a 50% cut in pay and use that money to give raises to the deserving, hard working employees of this county.
Wes believes all county commissioners should serve only one six-year term and not be eligible for re-election. This will ensure that none of the commissioners will have the opportunity to become complacent and/or self-serving. New ideas and new energy are needed every few years to sustain the many challenges facing this county.
